Huashu International Mathematics Competition is hailed as the ‘largest, most prestigious, most widely participated in, and most influential’ competition for primary and secondary school students in China. Established in 1986 to commemorate and honour the outstanding mathematician Professor Hua Luogeng(华罗庚), it is a major mathematics competition for young people; the name ‘Hua Luogeng Cup’ was inscribed by Hu Yaobang, then General Secretary of the Communist Party of China. Before its restructuring in 2018, the competition had attracted over 40 million young people from dozens of countries and regions worldwide and hundreds of cities across China. It received the support of more than 20 country leaders and garnered widespread attention and active participation from the international scientific and educational communities.
